OUR MISSION

Our mission is to: Promote safe and healthy choices and respond to problems caused by alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs, amongst all community members.

OUR VISION

We envision a community of people who embrace and enjoy life fully, and who reject the cultural pressure to abuse alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.

What is SACK?

The Substance Abuse Coalition of Kanabec County (SACK) provides innovative programs and services that help keep Kanabec County residents strong and resilient against alcohol, tobacco and other drugs (ATOD).

SACK orginally began as a meth task force to develop ordinances related to meth.

SACK has grown into a coalition whose goal includes all drugs and alcohol use prevention and education.

SACK is also working in the areas of intervention and treatment, as well as law enforcement and legislative.

SACK has membership representation from community members and organizations that are working to build a healthier environment for all people in Kanabec County.

As a Drug-Free Communities (DFC) grantee, SACK follows the Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) model. The SPF model is a Public Health approach focusing on change for the entire population. The key elements to the SPF model are assessment, capacity, planning, implementation, and evaluation. In addition, sustainability and cultural competence are considered throughout the process. The SPF key elements encompass:

Assessment – profiling population needs, resources, and readiness to address needs

Capacity – mobilizing and/or building capacity to address needs

Planning – developing a comprehensive strategic plan

Implementation – implementing evidencebased prevention programs and activities

Evaluation – monitoring, evaluating, sustaining, and improving or replacing those that fail

How is SACK organized?
